Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” James Bradley, who passed away on August 20th, 2026, at the age of 66.

Following his military service in the 1980s, Mike continued a life of service as a volunteer firefighter. He also spent approximately 20 years working at a youth remand facility, dedicating a significant part of his working life to supporting young people. Helping others was a part of him, and those who knew him well saw his thoughtful and generous nature.

Mike loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. He once shared a fond memory of sleeping beneath the shelter of his canoe, surrounded by the quiet of the wilderness and a canopy of stars overhead. It was a simple memory, but one that stayed with him—a glimpse of the peace and freedom he found in nature.

In recent years, Mike found sobriety and a sense of community while living at the Andy Carswell Building location of Veteran’s House Canada. He formed new friendships and meaningful connections there, becoming part of a community that offered him companionship and a place to belong. We are grateful that he was able to experience this chapter of his life and make connections that brought him happiness.

He was predeceased by his parents. His daughter and siblings will remember him.

Those who knew Mike during the better times knew him as kind, thoughtful, helpful, and caring. His life had its share of difficult chapters, but those chapters do not tell the whole story.

We choose to remember him for the good in him—for his willingness to help, his love of the outdoors, his years of service, and the moments when he was able to find peace and connection.

He will be remembered with honesty, compassion, and love. May he finally find the peace he spent much of his life searching for.

A private gathering will be held at a later date, when his ashes will be laid to rest.
