Michael Joseph “Pop” Barron
1936 – 2017
Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, Ontario, on August 17, 2017. Pop Barron originally of Dunville, Newfoundland, long time Toronto resident, aged 81 years.
Pre-deceased by his parents, Johannah and Archibald; siblings, Peter, Theresa, Archibald, Thomas, Madeline, Eugenia, Patrick and Mary. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving brother, Joseph, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Barron (Patrick), family members in California, his nieces and nephews, and a wide range of friends from Newfoundland to Ontario. These include a host of Maritimers, who upon arriving in Toronto, could count upon his hospitality, friendship and good humour. He quickly became known as “Pop”, a name in which he took delight, a name proudly earned. In later years he was most happy when surrounded by his two godsons, Gabriel and Elijah, and their mother, his friend, Sharon Yearwood . He was a man of many families, a man who will be remembered always as the salt of the earth.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at St. Ann’s Parish Church , 120 First Avenue, (Gerrard St./Broadview Ave.) Toronto, followed by reception in hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dialysis Program at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto would be appreciated.
