Michael Martin Albert passed away on September 7, 2025, in Ottawa after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63 years old.
Born on February 4, 1962, in Kingston, Michael was the beloved son of Jane and George Albert. He was the devoted husband of Christine Valerie Smith and a loving father to his two daughters, Jennifer Lauren Albert and Miranda Rose Albert. He was also the older brother to Stephen and James Albert.
Michael dedicated many years of his life to his work at the Department of National Defence, where he was highly regarded for his strong analytical skills and imaginative problem solving. His passion for the field led him to pursue and earn a large variety of professional certifications throughout his career, a testament to his commitment and expertise. He retired in 2022.
Beyond his career, Michael had a deep passion for life and his family. An avid traveler, he loved exploring new destinations and creating lasting memories.
In his retirement, Michael embraced new hobbies with remarkable enthusiasm. He further delved into the world of technology and even explored things like baking and sewing. A great testament to his creativity, he collaborated with his wife, Christine, to record two cover albums as special gifts for their daughters.
Michael will be remembered for his strength, his adventurous spirit, and the immense love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Service Details
A Funeral Mass and Reception will be held on Friday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation of the Lord Parish, located at 2414 Ogilvie Road, Gloucester, ON, K1J 7N5. The mass, at noon, will be preceded by a gathering in the church hall, where a video Michael prepared for this day will be shown.
The burial will commence at 2:00 p.m. at Notre-Dame Cemetery, located at 455 Montréal Road, Ottawa, ON, K1K 0V3.
