Mary Ellen Laframboise (nee Purdy)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Ellen Laframboise on February 4, 2025 at the age of 90. 

Mary Ellen grew up in Carleton Place with her sister Lorraine and mother Kathleen after losing her father Allan Purdy at an early age. Soon after moving to Ottawa at only 17 years old, she met her husband Gerry of 69 years. Mary Ellen was a devoted mother who deeply cared for her family. She was a lovely thoughtful woman and well liked by all who knew her. A true one of a kind, treating everyone with such care, compassion and acceptance. She also loved her dogs, reading, and the company of neighbours. We wish to thank the staff at Forest Hill for their years of care and kindness.

Predeceased by her granddaughter Lisa, Mary Ellen leaves behind her husband Gerald, her sister Lorraine, her children Richard, Julie, Louise (Phil), John (Joanne), Dave (Carolin), and Linda (Bill), as well as her grandchildren Elizabeth (Nick), Matthew, Keith, Amanda (Brandon), Kevin (Dominique), Dylan, Michelle (Dylan), and three great grandchildren Vayda, Elaina, and Isabelle.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the Holiday Inn & Suites in the Kanata Ballroom (101 Kanata Ave) from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday February 16, 2025.
