Martina Johanna Hill

Martina Johanna Hill, 90, of Orillia, passed away November 30, 2025, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, with her family at her side.

Martina was born to Antonius and Catharina Smeulders, January 7, 1935, in Hilversum, Netherlands. She is survived by 9 siblings.

Martina immigrated to Canada in 1955 and married Thomas Hill, October 10th, 1956. Beloved mother of her 8 children, Joanne (Dave predeceased), Mary-Ann, Anthony(predeceased) and Leesa, Francis (predeceased), Mona and Greg, Susan, Andrew and Jen, Paula and Grant. and loving Oma to 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Martina was a real estate agent for a time and retired from her working career as a Developmental Services Worker at the Huronia Regional Centre. She loved being a member of the Orillia Legion, a Girl Guide leader, Cancer Society volunteer driver and being involved in politics and elections. She loved boating, swimming, golfing, travelling, knitting, music, the theatre, playing darts, cards, going to church, and dancing. Martina and Les Girard (predeceased) would always be the last to leave the dance floor.

The funeral service will take place, Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 12:00pm at St. James Anglican Church, 58 Peter St Orillia, ON. A luncheon will follow in the church auditorium. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. James Anglican Church, Food Banks Canada, or to the Salvation Army would be graciously accepted.
