It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Mark Bernard Barton, who passed away peacefully in Ottawa on March 9, 2026, at the age of 67.

Mark was born on September 9, 1958, at Digby General Hospital. He was the cherished son of the late Clara and Gerald Barton, and partner, Glenn, and his close friend Nigel. Mark dedicated much of his working life to the healthcare field before retiring due to health challenges. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and the warmth he showed to those around him.

Mark will be lovingly remembered by his sisters: Helena Cromwell, Carol Oliver, Doreen, Marsha, and Marjorie; and by his brothers: William, Gerald Jr., and Bruce. He was predeceased by his sisters Geraldine, Amy, Diane, and Marjorie. He will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mark's family takes comfort in the many memories they shared with him and in the love that will remain in their hearts forever.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Civic Hospital and Community Housing for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Mark's final days.

Though Mark is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him and will be cherished always.
