Marilyn Elizabeth (Wilkins) Elhart

June 15, 1932 to June 20, 2023

Marilyn died peacefully at Gibson Long Term Care in Toronto, after struggling for many years with Alzheimer’s disease.

Marilyn, along with her twin sister Jacqueline, was born at Toronto East General Hospital.  She grew up in the east end of Toronto and had fond memories of the Beaches and events at the Balmy Beach Club.

Marilyn met her husband, Bob, in her early 20s and they were married in 1956.  Together they raised four children, Barbara, Penny, Carolyn and Kevin. They lived in Guildwood Village (Scarborough); Montreal; and Don Mills (Toronto).

In the late 1970s she moved to downtown Toronto as a single mother.  While watching her children grow into adulthood, Marilyn achieved her real estate license.  She very much enjoyed her career at the Cabbagetown office of Darrell Kent Real Estate, where Darrell became her mentor and coworkers became friends.

Marilyn was a vibrant and funny woman, full of stories, enjoying music and dance. Her family will always remember the many gatherings we had for Marilyn’s birthday, a day that always gave her special joy.

Sadly, about ten years ago, Marilyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s  and she spent the past eight years at Gibson House Long Term Care.  Marilyn’s daughters were at her side throughout her journey with Alzheimer’s.  We would like to thank all the staff at Gibson House LTC for their thoughtful care and support over the years.

Marilyn leaves behind her children, seven grandchildren (Fraser, Wendy, Paige, Laura, Scott, Christian, Jackson), three great grandchildren (Georgia, Kevin, Ila),  and three sons-in-law (Reid, Michael, Glenn).

A private memorial for the family will be held on August 6, 2023.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
