Marie Theresa Doris Watson (Chartier)

On December 9, 2025, Marie Theresa Doris Watson (Chartier), beloved wife of the late Donald Watson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was the daughter of the late Hector and Dora (Albert) Chartier, and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Lilliane (Clarence Cassidy), Anita (Micheal Knactcuk), Alex, Raymond (Patricia Fagan), and Laurence.

She was a devoted mother to Wayne (Merly Oamil), Donna (Elias Soueiti), Jacqueline (Micheal MacIlroy), Donald (Sandy Jakowec), Jo-Ann (Peter Mackey), Todd (Kitty Smith), and Joel. She was predeceased by her daughters Theresa (Desjardins/Stinson) and Joanne Lothian.

Doris and Don opened their home to many foster children over the years, always offering a warm meal and a safe place to sleep. Their table was never too full.

Known lovingly as Nanny, she treasured her 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Sleepovers, Nanny Fest, and the famous “no parents allowed” Christmas parties created a lifetime of cherished memories. She will live on forever in their hearts.

Doris will be deeply missed by her large extended family, her nieces and nephews, dear friends, and former colleagues from Billings Bridge. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces Jean, Lorraine, and Linda, who were more like sisters to her.

Her best friend and niece, Alice Chartier, cared for her with extraordinary love. The family extends their heartfelt thanks for her devotion.

A longtime parishioner of Our Lady of The Visitation, Doris found joy in volunteering and taking part in parish life. Her faith was constant and unwavering.

During her final years, Doris lived at Carleton Lodge, where she received exceptional care. The staff supported her with dignity, compassion, and respect, and the family is deeply grateful.

A Celebration of Life for Doris will be held at Our Lady of The Visitation 5338 Bank St. on Tuesday December 16, 2025 at 11am. Gathering at Church Hall to follow.

Interment at Hope Cemetery will follow at a later date.
