Marie "Jean" Pedlar nee Sinnett

March 23, 1928 — November 19, 2025

Marie "Jean" Pedlar nee Sinnett, passed away on November 19th, 2025 in Gananoque, Ontario in her 97th year. Jean left us peacefully in her sleep to join her beloved husband of 68 years Chuck and begin the next chapter of their story.
Jean is the cherished mum of Jeanette, Ross (Karen) and Jane (Marc).

Nana will always hold a special place in the hearts of her grand children, Wendy (Dean), Trevor (Darlene), Nichole (Chris) Joshua (Monalisa), Nicholas (Kate), Michaela and Noah; and her great grand children Peter, Arielle (Evan), Sarai, Logan, Tristan (Jayden), Katrina and Sabrina. Her legacy will continue with her great, great grand children Eli and Isabelle. Jean joins those who departed before her; her adored son Ross, her mother Elizabeth, and sisters Bessie, Norma, Patricia, and Lynn, her Auntie Molly and her Grandad Sinnett. She leaves behind her beloved brother John, his wife Joyce and her cousin Jackie. Jean is fondly remembered in England as Auntie Jean to Simon (Lesley), Karen (Kevin), Viv (Jimmy) and Anna (Allan).

Jean came to Canada from Widnes, England as a young bride in 1951 and over the years, set up family homes in Pierrefonds and Richmond (Quebec), Fredericton, Ottawa and for the last 33 years called Gananoque her home. She lived an amazing life with Chuck that included a love of travel, cooking, baking and hosting dear friends around the dinner table. Her blueberry muffins will forever be remembered in the hearts of her grand children. Jean's sense of style has been talked about for decades and everything about her from her beautiful hair to her love of shoes was done with absolute class.

Words are not enough to thank the staff of Carveth Care Centre for the care and love Jean received while living there since 2019. The comfort they provided in her final days will never be forgotten. The family gives an extra thank you to Joe, Tanya and Mellisa who went above and beyond in Jean's final hours.

Jean will be remembered privately by her family in a celebration of her life when the daffodils start to bloom in the Spring and she will eventually return to England to be with Chuck.

Donations in Jean's name to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or Carveth Care Centre 375 James St. Gananoque ON K7G 2Z1 would be welcomed.
