Marie Catherine Henault

November 25, 1954 – February 18, 2026

“I like laughing. Laughter, love, and animals are the things that make life worth living, in spite of hardships, and I endeavoured to surround myself with them”…

Our much loved Marie lost her brave two - year battle with pancreatic cancer at home surrounded by family and friends.

Marie was a bright light to many, a lover of all animals, and a source of benevolence to her community of Eden Mills. Originally from Montreal, she loved to travel, throwing herself into the history of where her journey took her, and sought any opportunity to see how others lived.

Marie is survived by her husband Rory Fox, who could never say no to any of her adventures, her brother Richard, her nephews Mark-André (Melanie Magnan and their children Laurent and Phillippe) and Erik Alexandre (Mercedes and their daughter Frédérique), stepsons Christopher ( Amanda) and Jonathan Fox (Savannah, and grandchildren Jordan and Jace), Aunt Lise Daoust and cousin Michelle Daoust; Mother-in-Law Anna Fox and stepsister Joanna Fox (Lister Farrar, Liam and Una).

Marie was pre-deceased by her parents, Gaetan Henault and Lucille Duhamel and by her beloved daughter Alexandra Lahaie.

Marie loved all animals, never failing to care for any in need. Current fur babies Millie and Arrow are missing her dearly. An ardent gardener, she was always experimenting with various plants, both indoor and outdoor in her large garden. Friends often benefitted from her gifts of plants and clippings.

Marie’s creativity expanded to her tireless study of art, from still life to abstracts, the crafts of needlepoint/sewing/knitting, and to the kitchen, where international flavours emanated daily.

Marie started professional life as a Sales representative for Linde Industrial Gases in Montreal, then worked as a clerk with a few law offices in Vancouver and Toronto before achieving what was to become a lengthy career with SNC Lavalin/Profac, initially as an executive secretary, but eventually proving her worth as a facility manager for Southern Ontario. In retirement, she was the owner/ proprietor of the popular Fox Run B&B along with her husband, for 13 years. No one ever left hungry and many were repeat customers who became friends.

The family would like to thank the Oncology staff in the Ambulatory Care Centre of Guelph General Hospital for the care that Marie received; and especially the Eden Mills Community who helped and supported her through the past couple of years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eden Mills Community Hall, 104 York Street, in Eden Mills, on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Spring was Marie’s favorite time of year.

Please consider donating to Guelph General Hospital or your local animal shelter or Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
