It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother, Marie Agnes Loretta Brunet, at the age of 94. She leaves behind six children (Richard, Gaetan, Jean, Normand, Hélène and Fernand), nine grandchildren (Rebecca and Christopher, Natalie and Maxime, Gabriel and Devlin, Lisa and Philip, Christina), and four great-grandchildren (Emmett and Aurora, Theo, Henry).

Agnes grew up with her 11 siblings (Joseph, Alexina, Aimé, Marguerite, Noël, Raymond, Laurier, Gérard, Fidèle, Glorisa and Olivette) on a farm in Green Valley, Ontario. She is survived by her sister Grace. She grew up in a religious household. Her Catholic faith was very important to her throughout her life and was a great comfort in her declining years.

She married Aimé Brunet (1926-2001) of Sainte-Anne-de-Prescott with whom she had six children. They lived in Calgary and Cornwall before settling down in Ottawa.

She later married Pat Nolan from Montreal. A great highlight of their time together was a three-month road trip across Canada and the United States.

She worked several years at Chez Pauzé in Montreal before moving back to Ottawa where she worked as receptionist in Oncology and then the Ophthalmology department at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

Agnes will be remembered for her beautiful smile and deep sense of compassion. She gave of herself wherever she was needed and was often the first to offer a helping hand. She had an irrepressible joie de vivre and was a constant inspiration with her grateful heart and positive attitude to life.

She was a devoted and beloved mother who was skilled in so many things. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crochet and gardening. She spent years making and selling beaded jewellery. She loved picking wild garlic, fiddleheads and all berries but her favourite pastime was playing cards. 

She used to belong to an Ottawa bridge club, a bowling league and Les filles d’Isabelle. She took great pleasure in riding her three-wheel bicycle all around Ottawa and looking after her large vegetable garden.

She leaves us with endless fond memories and the knowledge that she lived her life to its fullest.

C'est avec le cœur lourd que nous annonçons le décès de notre mère, Marie Agnes Loretta Brunet, à l'âge de 94 ans. Elle laisse dans le deuil six enfants (Richard, Gaetan, Jean, Normand, Hélène et Fernand), neuf petits enfants (Rebecca et Christopher, Natalie et Maxime, Gabriel et Devlin, Lisa et Philip, et Christina) et quatre arrière petits-enfants (Emmett et Aurora, Theo, et Henry).

Agnes a grandi avec ses 11 frères et sœurs (Joseph, Alexina, Aimé, Marguerite, Noël, Raymond, Laurier, Gérard, Fidèle, Glorisa et Olivette) sur une ferme à Green Valley, en Ontario. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa sœur Grace. Elle a été élevée dans un foyer imprégné de religion. Sa foi catholique a toujours occupé une place centrale tout au long de sa vie et lui a apporté un grand réconfort durant ses dernières années.

Elle a marié Aimé Brunet (1926-2001), originaire de Sainte-Anne-de-Prescott, avec qui elle a eu six enfants. Le couple a vécu à Calgary et à Cornwall avant de s'établir à Ottawa.

Plus tard, elle a épousé Pat Nolan, de Montréal. L'un des moments forts de leur vie commune fut un périple de trois mois en voiture à travers le Canada et les États-Unis.

Avant de retourner à Ottawa, elle a travaillé plusieurs années chez Pauzé, à Montréal. Elle a ensuite occupé un poste de réceptionniste au service d’oncologie et d'ophtalmologie du Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l'est de l'Ontario (CHEO).

On se souviendra d'Agnes pour son magnifique sourire et sa profonde compassion. Elle se rendait disponible là où l'on avait besoin d'elle et était souvent la première à offrir son aide. Dotée d'une joie de vivre inébranlable, elle était une source d'inspiration constante grâce à son attitude positive face à la vie et à son cœur reconnaissant.

Mère dévouée et aimée de tous, elle possédait de nombreux talents. Elle aimait cuisiner, coudre, tricoter, faire du crochet et jardiner. Pendant des années, elle a créé et vendu des bijoux en perles. Elle aimait cueillir de l'ail des bois, des têtes de violon et toutes sortes de petits fruits, mais son passe-temps favori fut le jeu de cartes.

A Ottawa, elle a fait partie d'un club de bridge, d’une ligue de quilles ainsi que les Filles d’Isabelle. Elle prenait grand plaisir à parcourir Ottawa sur son tricycle et à s'occuper de son vaste potager.

Elle nous laisse une multitude de souvenirs précieux et la certitude d'avoir vécu pleinement sa vie.
