Maria Tania Gordon

With heavy hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of Maria Tania Gordon, lovingly known as Marie, Baba, and Babalicious. On September 16, 2024, at the age of 78, Maria peacefully left this world, surrounded by the immense love she had given to so many.

Born on March 22, 1946, in Minden, Germany, Maria was the daughter of Olga (née Mitjko) and Nicholas (Mykola) Petrischenko. Her story is one of deep love and devotion—a journey that truly began when she eloped with her best friend and soulmate, Charles Luther Gordon. Together, they crafted a love story that spanned six remarkable decades, a testament to unwavering commitment and companionship.

Maria loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. She was the glue that bound her family, the one who loved to love on everyone who crossed her path. Her arms were always open, her heart always full, and her love was a beacon that will continue to shine. She lived by the words of Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." These were not just words for Maria—they were her way of life.

Family was everything to Maria. She is survived by her son James and his wife Tanya, her daughter Tanya and fiancé Dave Flood, and her beloved grandchildren Brittany (Britter), James (Chaz), Nicholas (Pussycat), and Alexandra (Pumpkin). She also leaves behind her devoted husband Charles, the love of her life, with whom she shared 60 extraordinary years. Maria’s love was like a fire that kept them all warm, guiding them through every season of life.

Though Maria has left this physical world, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love was vast, her kindness boundless, and her presence unforgettable. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral or service. Instead, she asked for something simple yet profound—friends and loved ones gathering together to raise a glass in her honor. She will be there, in every laugh, every shared memory, every toast.

Maria lived a life of passion, grace, and above all, love. Her legacy is not just the family she nurtured, but the countless lives she touched with her kindness and unshakable faith.
