July 16, 1970 — June 21, 2025

Ottawa

Despite a hard-fought battle, Marc Steven Behiels lost his war with cancer on 21 June 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario. He was a big, tender-hearted man who absolutely refused to quit fighting, intending to live as long as possible for his family and left us only because he had no choice. He will be missed forever.

He was born in Toronto and raised in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, moving to Ottawa with his family where he finished high school. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at the University of Ottawa in 1994 and worked for many years in the creative fields of design, including graphic and web design, however his heart belonged in the kitchen. In 2018, he fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened his own restaurant, Marc Kitchen and although it ultimately closed, he will be remembered for his mad cooking skills and love of good food. He was an avid reader of science fiction and loved to scuba dive with his wife. He had a deep voice with a booming laugh and enjoyed both entertaining at home and traveling the world.

A true partner in life and a devoted father, he is deeply mourned by his wife Suzie and his children, Nathaniel and Mackenzie Behiels. He is also survived by his parents Linda and Michael Behiels, as well as his brother Justin Behiels, his wife Holly, nephew Holden and niece Sloane Behiels and will be greatly missed by all.
