It is with great sadness that we announce that Marc-André Bélanger, a beloved teacher, devoted family man, and adventurous spirit from Cornwall Ontario, passed away at the Ottawa Heart Institute on May 26, 2026, with his family at his side.
Born on October 15th, 1950 in St-Cléophas, Qc, Marc-André dedicated his career to teaching, inspiring generations with his knowledge, patience, and encouragement. He touched countless lives through his passion for education and his genuine care for others.
Above all, Marc-André cherished time with his family. He was a proud, caring, devoted and loving grandfather who made every moment with his grandchildren special—whether sharing stories, taking bike rides, playing games, or simply being present in their lives, his grandchildren truly loved spending time with their “Papou”. His family was the heart of his world, and the memories created with them will be treasured forever.
Marc-André found great joy in his friendships, especially with those he worshipped alongside at church, played baseball with, took walks with, and shared many early-morning breakfasts. He treasured these connections, cherishing the lively conversations, camaraderie, and friendly competition on the field.
An avid traveler and explorer, he embraced life’s adventures with boundless enthusiasm. He biked across Canada, trekked through the breathtaking landscapes of Nepal, and walked the historic Camino de Santiago with his son — journeys that created unforgettable memories, strengthened family bonds, and reflected his deep love of discovery and the outdoors.
He now begins his own journey with the Lord, where his spirit will walk new paths in eternal peace.
Marc-André is survived by his son Pierre M. (Jessica), his cherished grandchildren Simon and Lucie — whom he lovingly called his “best friends” — as well as his siblings, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. His warm smile and gentle, calm spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Columban Catholic Church in Cornwall on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The church doors will open at noon.
