Lucy "Sophie" Sophia (Maher) Hayward

HAYWARD, Lucy Sophia (Sophie)– Passed away peacefully on April 5, 2022, at Trillium Manor, Orillia, at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husband Rance Hayward, her brother Thomas Maher, grandson Daniel Robinson, her parents Minnie Bell and John Maher, and her close friend/companion Dawson Stratton.

Sophie is survived by her children Marilyn Hayward, John Hayward (Lori), Wayne Hayward (Tracy), Janice Goswell (Tony), and Karen Hayward (Steve Flude), and by her sister Annie Smith (Adolphus “Dolph”). Beloved grandmother to Chris Robinson, Michael Robinson, Ryan Hayward, Jennifer Rodriguez (Ricardo), Nicholas Hayward (Sarah), Randi Hayward (Jordan), Kristy McKechnie (Tim), Andrew Goswell, Kendra Flude, Gillian Flude, Jake Flude, and great grandmother to Kayden, Randy, Joshua, Austin, Zoey, Owen, Joel, Lucas, Stella, Harper, Lily, Brody, Bentley, Bradley, Ivy, Logan, and Greyson. Sophie will also be missed by extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices - Jennett Memorial Centre, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. Her ashes will be brought to Bonavista, Newfoundland to be laid to rest with her husband.
