Luc Herve Joseph Chéné

Luc (Par) passed away on Thursday December 21, 2023 with his family by his side at St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa in his 80th year. He was born July 19, 1944, in Hull Quebec, son of the late Paul Chéné and Emilienne Boult and brother of the late Nicole Robidoux (Chéné). He is survived by his sister Paule Sims (Chéné).

He leaves behind his loving wife Janet Chéné (Caughill). Luc was a much loved father of Jocelyne (Chris Copeland), Julie (Jeff Kettles) and Michael (Melissa Viner). He was father of sons, Luc St Pierre and Mario Boucher who he was united with in recent years. Luc was grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. He will be very fondly remembered by many including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Luc was happiest when being with his children and grandchildren. He was a househusband before his time. He enjoyed playing golf, table tennis and basketball. For him, diving from high dive boards was much more interesting than swimming.

Luc volunteered for many years including with the Ottawa Distress Centre, Catholic Immigration Services, Children’s Aid Society, Camp Bucko, a camp for children with severe burn injuries and at Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London, Ontario. He was a kind gentle man, always willing to help others. His generosity knew no bounds.

Janet and family would like to thank the staff of Wexford House, St. Patrick’s Home for their care and support over the past 6 years. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Cameron for his excellent medical care and for his support of Luc and family.

A service will be held in the spring.
