On April 26, 2025, at the age of 82, Marie-Cécile Louise passed away peacefully.
She was born on May 20, 1942, in Hull Québec, to Marcel and Cécile (nee Lanctot) while her father was serving overseas during WW II. She lived in Hull with her mother and Grandparents, Médard and Eléonore until the end of the war before moving to Ottawa. Shortly after marrying her husband, they settled in Greely, where together they raised their family.
Before her battle with dementia, Louise was known to remember the milestones of all those she met and every saint day on the calendar. She was a talented cook, known for creating beloved fusion dishes that brought together French Canadian and Croatian cuisine that we’re still trying to recreate without a written recipe. Whether family, friends or neighbors, there was always room at her table, and no one would leave hungry. She was steadfast in her faith and a fierce bingo player right to the end.
Louise was predeceased by her husband Edward (Edo) Zuger, and by her son Jean-François (Frank). She is survived by her children, Philippe, André (Lisa) and Linda (Ray). She will be missed by her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “G”, and fondly remembered by her extended family.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Résidence Saint-Louis and the Bruyère Health Team for the care and compassion they extended to her since 2022.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 5338 Bank St. at 11:00am and she will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow at OLV Banquet Hall until 2:00pm.
