It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Louise, on August 24, 2026, at the age of 86. 

Louise was born to Yvon Valiquette and Lucienne Charbonneau on January 29, 1940, in Ottawa, Ontario. She was the beloved wife of Barry Norman Pink, loving mother to Jason (Sandra) and Hedra Marlene (Paul), and devoted grandmother to Daniel and James. She was predeceased by her brothers Roger, Paul, Rick and Frank, and sister Hélène. She is survived by her brother Peter (Johanne), her sister Julie (André), as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Louise was a second mom, auntie, and friend to so many people. Her compassionate nature was at the heart of her decades-long career in nursing, where she cared for patients from the tiniest newborns in the hospital nursery to those reaching the end of their lives in palliative care. 

Throughout her life she was the family genealogist, a role she took great pride in and embraced with great enthusiasm. 

Mom had an at-home care team that included her daughter, son-in-law, and many outstanding Ontario Health At Home caregivers during the last four years of her life. In her final days, she was cared for by the compassionate staff at New Orchard Lodge in Ottawa. 

We would like to also extend a special thank you to her longtime friend, Solange Wolfe, for all her love and support. 

Friends and family are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Paroisse Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, 435 Montreal Road, Ottawa. A light luncheon will be provided on-site afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada, Parkinson Canada, Defeat MSA Canada or the charity of your choice would be welcomed.
