Louis Goulet

March 17, 1948 — January 2, 2024

Ottawa

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Louis, at his residence in Sandy Hill, at the age of 75.

Predeceased by his parents René and Bernadette (née Leclerc) and a sister, Hélene Legault, he leaves behind a brother and sisters Pauline Sauvé (Lionel), Claire Faubert (Roger), Jacques (Louise), Diane-Irène Goulet; nieces and nephews Cynthia Bruce-Payne (Geoff) Simon Faubert, Yan, Adrien, Sophie Goulet and great nephews Justin and Hugo Bruce-Payne.

Louis had been working at TRM Technologies Inc. since 2021. Previously worked for SC360 Inc. and Night Hawk Technologies. He will be fondly remembered as a quiet and peaceful man, an avid cyclist and hiker (particularly in the area of Banff National Park) with a deep respect for the environment.

Louis was a graduate from the University of Ottawa and worked there as a staff writer. He then attended Carleton University where he completed two years in mathematics and computer science. He also completed a certification in computer networking support at a community college.

He travelled throughout Canada, the U.S. and many European countries. He was a passionate cyclist often hitting the trails in Gatineau Park in his younger years and later preferred this type of transportation to get to work and around town. He was also a self-published author and a great conversationalist on many topics especially on science and innovation. Louis was also an amateur guitarist with an impressive collection of his own.

A celebration of life will be held at the SGI Canada Buddhist Centre at 334 Churchill Avenue in Ottawa a date TBD – possibly on his forthcoming birthday March 17th, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to not-for profit advocacy group for safe cycling: Bike Ottawa at: https://bikeottawa.ca/donate-to-bike-ottawa/.
