In Loving Memory of Lise Monique Anita Marie Lacroix.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mama and Nanny, Lise Lacroix, who was called to Heaven’s Gate on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, at the age of 81. With her loved ones gathered around her, she peacefully departed her life at home after battling cancer.
Lise was the glue and rock of the family, the person who kept the family together. She was married and devoted to the love of her life, Marcel since May 27, 1961. She also dedicated her life to raising her four children- Danny, Joanne, Monique, and Denis-while instilling in them the values of love, kindness, and respect.
After marrying Marcel and renting their first place of 34 years their kids convinced them to buy their own home where they had shared over 25 years of happiness and joy. Lise always made an impact on everyone. She enjoyed making people happy and her mission seemed to be sending them home with a hot cooked meal, love, and laughter. Lise always made sure her house was spotless inside and out and would never let you rest if something was amiss. She lived a life full of grace, and she would want us to continue giving and thinking of others before we think of ourselves. Lise held those she cared and loved very dear to her heart. She always had an eye for detail, loved to decorate and make a house into a home. The long chats over tea, coffee or one of her many homemade soups, bouilli or spaghetti, will be deeply missed by many. Throughout her lifetime, Lise has loved and cared for at least a dozen animals. She enjoyed pop music, loved to read and watch the drama about Trump and adored comedy movies. If company arrived with their dog, you could bet your last dollar that your furry friend would be fed a cookie Some even called her the Cookie Lady!
Lise had her daily routine, and it was difficult to convince her otherwise. Struggling physically at the end didn’t stop her from getting things done, mentally she was tough as nails, and she had assigned the family their daily chores and ensured routine was kept! She loved acts of kindness and was always surprising friends and family with gifts she knew would make them happy!
Lise adored spoiling her grandchildren from the get-go – Sean(Alanna), Mandy(Mike), Shannon(Chris) and Hope as well as her great-grandchildren Kayden, Grace, Tucker and Brooklyn . Lise is leaving behind an everlasting legacy of faith, joy, and devotion. She is survived by her father, Fernand, her mother Cécile, her grandfather, Albert, her grandmother Donalda. Lise is leaving behind her younger sister, Hélène, younger brother Denis, her grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as her favorite furry sidekick, Kevin.
We know Lise is leaving behind her guiding light for generations to come and we will ensure that we follow through on our family traditions and her morals of thinking of others, making them feel at home and sending them on their way feeling loved. She will be deeply missed however her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Lise played hardball when she meant business but had the kindest heart. As a wife, mother, nanny, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and granddaughter, she imparts the following traits to us, which we shall remember always and forever.
Lise often provided a safe emotional space for us to express our feelings and fears. She taught us that education and values were essential life skills. Lise also taught us kindness, responsibility, and resilience, shaping our moral compass. She advocated for us frequently, checking in, she ensured these needs were met through education, because she cared that we all received the necessary support. Lise instilled healthy habits, from nutrition to exercise, she motivated all her family to pursue their passions and dreams, celebrating achievements and encouraged perseverance. Her love was often seen as unconditional, providing a constant source of support that helped her family feel loved and valued.
A special thank you to Dr. Goel and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital Cancer Unit for the compassionate care Lise received throughout her courageous and unexpected battle. Also, a thank you to Lise’s friend Hélène, and niece Carol for sharing laughs, love, companionship, support, strength, and everything in between to make her smile and enjoy the comfort of her surroundings in her last few months!
Rest in peace, Lise. You will be forever remembered and missed by us all.
