Lillian Marie Bednarz

With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Lillian Bednarz (née Manel) on August 30, 2026, at the age of 85.

Lillian will be lovingly missed by her husband, Leonard, of 65 years; her children, Laura (Mark Flynn), Michael, and Linda (Richard Eastwood); and her treasured grandchildren, Sean, David, Patrick, Allison, Andrew and Brendan. She will also be remembered with great affection by her sister, Alice Nicholls, as well as by her many cousins and friends whose lives she touched throughout the years. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Lillian Manel, and her sister, Irene Dimitroff.

Though her passing leaves a deep sadness in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven, in peace and free from pain. Lillian’s love lives on through her family. Her memory will be kept alive in the stories we share, the traditions we carry forward, and in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, and sister, all of whom she cherished so deeply.

A special thank you to the many medical staff who supported and cared for Lillian with such compassion and kindness: Dr. Ingber and the palliative care team and pharmacy staff at North York General Hospital; the specialist physicians and care team at Sunnybrook Hospital; and the nurses and PSW’s at VHA Home HealthCare. We are deeply grateful for the care and comfort they provided Lillian and our family.

A private family gathering will take place in her home.
