Leopold "Leo" Ladage was born on September 5, 1931, in Germany, and passed away peacefully in Ottawa, leaving behind a life marked by love, resilience, and deep devotion to family.
Leo built a life grounded in hard work and quiet dedication, retiring after many years with OC Transpo. He was a steady presence — strong, dependable, and deeply caring. He loved building and fixing things and was never happier than when he had a project on the go, always finding satisfaction in working with his hands and solving problems. To his family, Leo was the strength and soul that held generations together, offering support, guidance, and unconditional love.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ingeborg Ladage (née Franz), his eldest grandson, Erik Nattkemper (Lucie Kodouskova), and his cherished great-granddaughter, Liliana.
Leo is survived by his children: Brian Ladage; Rita Nattkemper (Dieter); and Deborah Guitor (Jacques). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, David Nattkemper (Daphne Sy) and Allison Guitor (Steven Usling), and by his great-grandchildren, Alex, Elena, and Edwin Nattkemper.
Leo's strength, kindness, and hands-on spirit will live on in the family he so deeply cherished and will be forever missed.
Donations in Leo's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
