Obituary

Lawrence William Clarke (Larry) of Ottawa, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20th, 2026, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Born January 31, 1939, in Kingston, Ontario, he was the son of Gerald Clarke and Marjorie (née Good), and older brother to Wayne. He had fond memories of growing up on the family farm in Gananoque, Ontario, and then moving to Kingston in the 1950s. Larry graduated from Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) then Ryerson University, and went on to have a fulfilling 30 year career as a Statistician for the Government of Canada.

In 1964, he married Patricia (Pat) May, and they shared sixty-two years of marriage, building a life filled with family, golf, good food, and joy. Larry was a loving father to Stephanie and Jennifer (Brendan); and a devoted Grandpa to Hannah, Kate, and Matthew; sharing with them his love of golf, swimming, card games, and ice cream. Gramma and Grampa took their cherished grandchildren on numerous adventures including apple picking, mini-putting, maple syrup collecting, and farm visits. He is survived by this loving family who also affectionately called him Big L. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother.

Larry was involved in the St. John the Baptist Anglican Church and community in Richmond, Ontario; running Sunday meetings in the church hall for decades. He will be missed by his many close friends and neighbours. A celebration of life is currently being organized by Larry’s family. The details will be posted here when finalized. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Richmond, Ontario.
