Laurence (Lance) Melville Savage

June 21, 1966 — April 19, 2025

Laurence Melville Savage (Lance), passed away Saturday morning, April 19th, 2025, at the age of 58, after a brief battle with cancer.

Lance was born on June 21st, 1966 in North Vancouver, B.C. where he spent his early years enjoying all that the great outdoors had to offer including hiking, biking and skiing. He was also very active in competitive swimming and hockey. He spent two years on Vancouver Island where he attended Shawnigan Lake Boys School until his late teens when he moved to Mississauga to be with his mom and sisters, and finished off his high school years at Erindale Secondary School. After living for a time in Toronto and St. Catharines, he ultimately made his home in Barrie, Ontario where he lived for the last 20 years. In Barrie, Lance built a career in the heating and air conditioning business and spent his downtime shooting pool with his good friends and teammates at Dunlop Billiards.

Lance had a huge heart and loved his friends and family with passion. He never missed an opportunity to vacation with his mom and two sisters; from Caribbean and Alaskan boat cruises, to all-inclusives in Mexico and cottage rentals in Ontario, his tightly knit family never passed up a chance to spend time together and create special memories. He was always passionate about holidays and birthdays as well and made a point of showing up no matter the distance from Barrie; he was always 'good to go'. Lance was a huge hockey fan and his team, of course, was the Vancouver Canucks. He enjoyed his family group chat called 'Go Canucks Go' during every game played! He was also interested in Astronomy and loved to piece together the planets and the stars, and faraway galaxies.

Lance was hilariously funny! He had the best facial expressions, the best one liners, and the best nicknames. He always lit up the room with his enormous heart and big personality. He was a really good listener and gave the best hugs, which I know we all will miss. He touched many lives and his passing has left a deep void for us all.

Lance is survived by his mother, Linda Savage; his sisters Cynthia Savage and Sally Bell (Stan); and his nephews, Ryan and Adam Bell. He was predeceased by his father, Rufus Savage. He will be deeply missed by all of his aunts, uncles and cousins. A very heartfelt thank you to his good friend Suzanne who took care of him in his final months; words cannot express our gratitude.

A Celebration of Life for close friends and family will be held in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in his name.
