Lauree Anne Bishop (née Hogarth) — of Brechin, Ontario — passed away peacefully on June 16th, 2026, two days before her 85th birthday. She spent her final months surrounded by her devoted family, who wrapped her in love and cherished every moment, conversation and memory shared together.
Lauree grew up in Weston, Ontario, and met the love of her life, Rich, to whom she was married for 63½ years. Together they built a life in Etobicoke, raised two boys, maintained a tight-knit circle of friends, and shared a deep love of music. In her early adult years she was a teacher with the Toronto District School Board, but later flourished as a mother and homemaker — a role she took with great pride. The home was nothing short of a masterclass in cooking, cleaning, laundry, and ironing.
As the boys grew and left the nest, Lauree and Rich made their way north to Bayshore Village, where they lived their lakeside dream for 35 years. She was actively involved in the community garden committee for many years, having already set an outstanding example through her own remarkable garden. Her knowledge of plants and flowers was exceptional, and she took genuine pride in every bloom.
Her winters were shortened by trips to Hawaii and later Florida, where she welcomed a pause from the cold and looked forward to March break visits with her grandchildren. Whenever possible she attended their games, performances, and graduations with unwavering support and enthusiasm.
Family was at the centre of Lauree's life, and she was deeply treasured by those closest to her. She is survived by her husband Richard; her sons and daughters-in-law Steve & Wendy and Tim & Karen; her grandchildren Samuel (Fernanda), Emily (Matt), Lauren, and Bradley (Nicole); and her great-granddaughter Iris. Lauree took immense joy in watching her grandchildren grow into accomplished adults, meeting each of their choices with grace, without judgment, and always with love. In her final months, little Iris brought her endless laughter and smiles — moments the family will hold close forever.
Her values, integrity, and the life lessons she lived by will endure in everyone she loved.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada in memory of Lauree. https://alzheimer.ca/en
