Kathryn Gail Murray

September 12, 1951 — March 16, 2024

Toronto

On Saturday March 16, 2024, Kathryn Murray passed peacefully at 11:33pm. She was surrounded by many loved ones during her last days before passing at Toronto Grace Hospital.

She will be missed by many, and remembered by all whose lives she touched. She loved her family very much and was the gel that kept it together. A lovely mother to Erin (Christian) and Dylan (Laura). Also survived by her son Andy who was lovingly welcomed into an adoptive family. A relentlessly nurturing grandmother to Paije, Simone and Rae. Her brothers and sisters were Vivian, Doug (Kathleen), Karl (deceased), Julie, and Steven (Marie-Jeanne). Kathryn was a loving aunt to Danielle (Valter), Jeffrey, Karol (Mark), Kim (Turlough), Jeremy, Richard, Mercedes, Sebastian, Frasier, Sahara, Nafshiya, Chaiora, Tadg, Niamh, Aoife, Nicolas and Marcus.

She had many interesting vocations over her lifetime, including decades of teaching yoga. She had healing hands for many with her reflexology and shiatsu skills, and owned a stress management business helping businesses. She also ran two pageants, Miss Toronto Tourism and Miss Canada Tourism.

Kathryn was the fourth child of Verna Adams, she came from a large family of 6 children and grew up in the Toronto neighborhood of Parkdale. Her family was an interesting bunch, with each sibling being wildly different. She was loving, she cared about people’s health, keeping family and friends together and standing up for what she believed in without ever backing down. Kathryn was warm, and could befriend anyone.

Kathryn overcame some very difficult situations over the course of her life and remained strong while raising her two children as a single mother regardless of how difficult life got for her, this included raising two children as a single mother. She went by many names: Kat, Kate, Katey, Kathy, Karen, Special K and Kathryn. But, as she would always say, “don’t call me late for dinner”. She was buried at a plot in St. James Roseneath cemetery on March 22nd, on a beautiful hill overlooking a small town church.

Please join us to celebrate Katheryn’s life. The Celebration and Service is being held on April the 20th 2024 at 12-2pm at Christian Spiritual Ministries Toronto branch at 706 College St. Beverages and light snacks will be provided after the service.

Kathryn, you left the world a better place and now you are finally at peace. You are with the angels now, that’s where you always wanted to be. You’ll now be watching over us, even though you’ve always been doing that. You are finally at peace, basking in the light of heaven. You’ve touched many lives, and left us all with beautiful memories. Your beauty will live on in all of us, and your loving ways have enriched all of our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices
