Upon immigrating to Canada Karl spent many years working as an elevator mechanic. His work was a source of pride and joy for him. Well into his retirement he told stories to his children and grandchildren about his time working as an elevator mechanic and the various job sites at which he worked. Karl was a true outdoorsman and was a member of Hubertus Hunt Club for many years. He was always conscious the toll his past time took on the environment and made a conscious effort to replenish and had a keen eye for conservation. He was an avid reader and had an appreciation for all sports – particularly hockey and soccer. He enjoyed watching and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs and for his favourite soccer team - Schalke 04. Watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow, brought him a great deal of pride and happiness – especially in his last years. In his retirement he enjoyed travelling and spent many happy years vacationing in Merida, Mexico and had dreams of returning one day. He made many friends through his work as an elevator mechanic, time as member of the hunt club and his travels abroad to Mexico. He will be greatly missed by friends, family and those who knew and loved him. It gives us great comfort to know that he is at peace.
