Julia passed away from cancer in Bracebridge Hospital surrounded by family and friends at the age of 64. She leaves her beloved son Joshua and her brother John. She will be missed by her dear friends Kevin, Cheryl, Kim and Cindy. She was predeceased by her mother June and her father Roy.

Julia was born in England and emigrated to Canada with her family. After graduating from Beaconsfield High School she worked and lived in Beaconsfield until she left home to attend school at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay Ontario where she discovered timber sports. Her speed chop with wood chips flying everywhere, was a sight to behold. She followed her love of nature and found a career where for 37 years, her office was routinely in forests and streams.

She was loved by her Sir Sanford Fleming friends, colleagues and students and she loved them back. The college was a true passion. She brought enthusiasm to it every day. Her peers considered her an excellent teacher committed to the education of her students. Her friendliness and sense of humour accompanied her everywhere. She occasionally wandered the halls with a puppet sitting on her hip. The puppet was capable of saying anything!

She gravitated to the Lindsay Little Theater. Her favourite role was “the Bar Wench” on tavern nights.

While working at the LCBO, Julia’s mischievous smile appeared, her blue eyes twinkled and Catherine O’Hara received Julia’s “grand bow”. She could be counted on for a stirring rendition of Happy Birthday to any customer celebrating that day. Julia worked hard at her jobs and her sense of joy and fun always came through effortlessly.

To be Julia’s friend was like winning a lottery.
