Judith Pauline (Nekechuk) Bochenek

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Judy Bochenek, of Oshawa, who died unexpectedly on August 13, 2023, as a result of complications arising from a fall suffered at home.  At the time of her death at Lakeridge Health, she was surrounded by loved ones.

Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her children Tracy, Michelle and Matthew and her much loved granddaughter, Olivia. Lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her sisters, Betty (Al) Joanisse of Ottawa and Linda (Robert) Barber of Fonthill and sisters-in-law, Beth Levin of Greely and Ying Dang of Toronto. Ray Bochenek of Brechin (her ex-husband) also mourns her passing. In addition, Judy will be missed by her aunt, her many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

Predeceased by her parents, John and Marjorie Nekechuk and her brothers, John, Michael, Terry and Steven.

Judy enjoyed cooking and baking (her tourtiere was second to none), never missed the daily Wordle, took pleasure in seeing the flowers & cherry blossoms bloom in her yard, and loved long chats & joking/laughing with family and friends.

Judy had a never ending curiosity and thirst for learning, including achieving her MSW later in life. As a professional Social Worker, Judy’s kindness was felt by many of those whose lives she touched. With a compassionate heart, she helped many through difficult times.

In lieu of flowers, donations to CAMH or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in Judy’s name would be appreciated, as both were of interest to her.

A service of remembrance will occur at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
