With simple and steadfast faith, Joyce Agnes McNaughton (née Morrison) went peacefully to be with Jesus in the early morning of May 18, 2025, at the age of 93. As a loving wife, sweetest of mothers, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend, Joyce lived a life marked by grace, quiet strength, and deep compassion. She shared 64 years of marriage with the late Wesley McNaughton and was the gentle mother of Jennifer Titley (Kevin) and Ralph McNaughton (Kate and the late Lorraine), and the proud grandmother of Erica, Andrew, Jessica, Kendra, and Mikaela. Her legacy of love continues through her great-grandchildren: Amelia, Mateo, and Lily.
Born on September 2, 1931, in Summerstown, Ontario, to Arthur and Pearl Morrison, Joyce was one of seven siblings and is predeceased by all: Ruth, Leslie, Marion, Verda, Gwen, and Mildred. She is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched deeply. At the age of 18, Joyce left home to attend teachers’ normal school in Ottawa. She began her teaching career at 19, dedicating two decades to educating in rural schools around Ottawa and later within the Ottawa Board of Education.
Joyce and Wesley made their home on a hobby farm near the Rideau River Park in the Kemptville area, where she was a valued neighbor, selfless caregiver, and active community member. Her faith guided her life and service, as she humbly served in ministries at Calvary Baptist Church, the Kemptville Salvation Army, and St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. Until her final days, Joyce found joy in reciting childhood poems and memorized scriptures, singing vintage songs and faith-filled hymns, and recalling cherished memories.
Cremation has taken place, and Joyce’s ashes will be laid to rest at Kemptville Public Graveyard. A celebration of her life will be held mid-June. Details to be updated on Basic Funerals. Thank you to staff at the Perley Health, Saint-Vincent Hospital, Greystone Manor, and Glebe Centre LTC, for their compassionate care throughout the past few years. As expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions to Hope and Healing International or the charity of your choice are appreciated by the family.
