Jose (Zé) Mateus
Jose passed away peacefully, at the Ottawa General Hospital, on February 7, 2024 at the age of 92. Husband of Maria, father of Paul (Marla) and Carlos (Paola), vovo to Jacob, Savannah, Emilio, Natalia, Sofia and Emma. Son of the late Fernando Mateus and Maria Adelina Ramos of freguesia do Algoz, concelho de Silves, Portugal. Jose will be dearly missed by his many friends and family in Canada, Portugal and Luxembourg. Special thanks to the caring staff at the Ottawa General Hospital.
Jose will be remembered as a family man with strong work ethics, who dedicated himself to building a better life for his family. He was fond of tinkering with items around the house and always willing to lend a hand to fix or build something. Jose was able to enjoy his retirement years split between his family in Canada and Portugal. Zé, will be remembered by family and friends as someone with an appreciation for good food, wine, and conversation.
To respect Jose’s wishes an intimate funeral with immediate family only will be held on Thursday February 15, 2024.
