John R. Thomson was born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario. After graduating Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, John relocated to Vancouver, B.C., where he worked in the financial services industry for years.
He returned to St. Catharines to aid his mother in her later years, then relocated to Toronto where he worked for years at The Delta Chelsea Hotel. Subsequently he joined the staff at the University of Toronto Faculty Club, retiring in 2021, as health issues became more problematic. He passed away Friday September 13, 2024, under the compassionate care of the ICU staff at the Toronto General Hospital. Our thanks to the attentive doctors and nurses in the ICU unit, and to friends with whom he socialized.
John was predeceased by his father, Daniel R. Thomson (Mar. 1980), his mother Leitha G. Thomson (Nov. 1998), his sister Marsha L. Baker (nee Thomson – Nov. 2005).
He is survived by his brother, Edward Thomson, his wife Carolyn, their two sons, Christopher and Santana, Ryan and Maddison, his niece Katie Hacock (nee Baker), her husband Chris and their three children.
A private internment was held Friday September 27, 2024 at the gravesite of his mother Leitha at the Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines, Ontario.
