It is with deep love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John A Robertson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, cousin and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 80 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by the family who cherished him beyond words, a reflection of the love he gave so freely throughout his life.
For more than 58 wonderful years, he shared an enduring and devoted marriage with his beloved wife Merry, and they had a partnership filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering support.
Together, they built a life rich in love and family. He was a proud and caring father to his two daughters, Kim and Shelly, a welcoming and supportive father-in-law to Duane, and a deeply devoted grandfather to his grandson Noah, who brought him immense joy every day.
He will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, a wide circle of friends and his ASL family, all of whom were drawn to his warmth, kindness, and remarkable sense of humor. He had a natural gift for socializing and truly loved being surrounded by people. Some of his happiest moments were spent hosting family and friends in his backyard—gathered around the pool, enjoying lively barbecues filled with laughter, stories, and good food.
He also found great joy in the simple pleasure of the open road. Whether it was taking long drives in his beloved Mustang convertible or heading out on trips to Fallsview or Casino Rama. He embraced every opportunity to explore, relax, and make memories with those he loved.
Even in the face of illness, he showed incredible strength and bravery. True to who he was, he held onto his laughter and spirit until the very end, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, positivity, and love.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Home Care Nurses, Personal Support Workers and his amazing family Doctor, whose compassion and care provided comfort during an incredibly difficult time. Their kindness and dedication will never be forgotten—they are truly angels among us.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will be invited to gather, honor and remember a life so beautifully lived.
He will be forever missed and always remembered with love.
