JOHN (Jan) PASMA, born March 30, 1940, at his family’s home in DePlouff, Netherlands, died peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Mississauga General Hospital. Loved husband and best friend of Carol (Thomas) Pasma for 61years. His three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild were his greatest blessings. Daughters Kristie (Ken) Newman, Kim Bourne and Kerrie George: GrandchildrenSarah and Chase Newman, Hannah, Mark (Kylie) and IsabellBourne, Ashley and Ryan George and great grandson Jude Bourne will love and remember him for the whole of their lives - in the lessons he taught, his stories and in family writings.
John, who is survived by his four brothers – Raymond, (Vickie), Wayne, Syd (Rene), and Jake (Renee), was the patriarch of the Pasma family. His seven nieces and nephews all loved and respected him. He was predeceased by his parents, Sipke (Sid)Pasma, d. 1983 and Heilkje (Helen) Greijdanus Pasma d. 2011.
John enjoyed travelling, gospel music and cottage life. He was a great storyteller, most notably about the many shenanigans he and his brothers got into as kids. Over time, the stories took on a life of their own, but those memories remain bringing laughterto all who knew him. His Christian faith surrounded and supported him for the whole of his life, and he was looking forward to going home to Jesus. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you onto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also”. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know”. John 14:3-4
There will be a private family memorial at a future date. Please remember Carol and her family in this most difficult of times.
