John Frederick McNicol

d. January 15, 2026

John Frederick McNicol, of Bradford, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on January 15, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by the love of his family.

John was predeceased by his parents, John Frederick McNicol Sr and Hazel Dawn McNicol.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda McNicol. John was a loving and devoted father to his sons John & Billy, and his daughter Tammy (Dan). John was a proud and loving Papa to Katelin (Craig), Michael (Nicole), William (Ally), and Matthew, and a devoted Great-Papa to Myles, Madison, Chayse, Cole, Layla, and Luke, who brought him endless joy and pride. He is survived by his sister Debbie (Rick) and family; brothers-in-law Rick (Cindy) and Cliff (Maureen); and sister-in-law Laurie.

John will also be fondly remembered by his devoted friends, neighbours, and co-workers, especially Lynda Cuffe who meant a great deal to him, and Carrie Threader who was a second daughter to him.

A hardworking and dedicated driver with Innocon for 23 years, John retired his truck, No. 571, in 2020. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment. Outside of work, he enjoyed a quick nine holes with the guys and spending time at family gatherings. Above all, he was a loving husband for over 61 years, a devoted dad, and the very best Papa and Great-Papa. John will be remembered as a strong, brave soul whose kindness and love left a lasting impression on all who knew him. We will miss you forever.

In keeping with John’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. The family will share details of a celebration of life in the spring at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in John’s memory may be made to the ACE Unit at Southlake Regional Health Centre, in appreciation for the compassionate care he received. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses for their exceptional care, kindness, and support during this time.
