John William McNeil-Smith passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 9, 2020 at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Durham Ontario, at the age of 81.
He is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Broomhead) of 53 years. Proud Dad of his three children Scott (Laurie), Tracey (Larry) and Kelly. Adoring Grandfather to Paul (Ashley), Christopher, Bradley, Shaun, Ryan, Emma and Madison, and known as "Grumpy" by his Great Grandchildren, Aiden and Aubrey. John will be missed by his brothers and sisters, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
John loved to garden, read the newspaper, his bible and enjoyed puzzles. He always had a puzzle on the go. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. He whistled while he worked, which meant he was in a good mood. Some of his greatest joy was spending quality time with his children and grandchildren, playing games or building with Lego spread out across the floor.
In lieu of flowers, we welcome any donation made in honour of John to the
Canadian Diabetes Association
or the
Canadian Kidney Foundation.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday March 14, 2020, at 10:00 am, followed by the Service at 11:00. Refreshments to follow.
