It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of John Douglas McMurray at the age of 62.

John will be missed by his mother, Audrey McMurray, sisters Patty Trost (Tony) and Jan McMurray (Dan Nicholson), nieces and nephews Danielle Marchetti (Michael), Seana Jarman (Bryce), Ivan Nicholson and Tera Nicholson as well as his great niece and nephews.

John was predeceased by his father, James McMurray, in 2020. This was a loss he never fully recovered from. John and his dad were very close, spending time together boating and doing repairs and projects at the cottage.

John’s favourite place on earth was the cottage. This is where he was happiest. He was an accomplished water-skier and took great joy in teaching anyone interested in learning the skill behind his beloved JCraft. He also enjoyed sailing. On a windy day, you would almost certainly see him out in his sailboat waving to anyone on shore as he approached.

John loved dogs and took every opportunity to give belly rubs and treats to any dog who came his way. He took tremendous pleasure being a dog dad to Bruno, and Molson before him.

Some of the most important people in John’s life were his cousins Steve, Nancy, Mark and Doug, childhood friend Laurie Swinton and her husband Dave, and cottage friend Trevor Viera and his wife Lynn. Special thanks to these people for their efforts to stay in touch with John over the years.
