Jack Prescott passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on December 28, 2024, at the age of 81.
A farmer for more than 60 years, Jack was deeply rooted in the land. Farming was not just his livelihood; it was his identity. Through decades of hard work and changing seasons, he nurtured the fields, fed communities, and took great pride in providing for his family.
Jack was known for his larger-than-life personality, love of conversation, and genuine ability to connect with anyone he met. He was happiest among people, sharing stories, especially farming stories, and, true to form, often said he hoped he would one day die on a tractor.
Above all, Jack was devoted to his beloved wife, Wilma. Through every illness and hospital stay, he never left her side, caring for her with unwavering loyalty until her passing in 2017. His life was defined by devotion to the land, to his family, and to the woman he loved. We take comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
Jack will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12 in Peterborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lung Association or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
