John Foote, of Barrie, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital on March 27, 2026, at the age of 85, following a sudden stroke. Born on February 9, 1941, in Glasgow, Scotland, John was the beloved son of the late Charles and Mary Foote.

John was very active, he started every day with a walk or run. He loved spending time with his many friends and neighbours, both in Barrie and Toronto, and was well known for his sociable nature and warm personality. He was also a longtime supporter of Barrie City soccer clubs and a proud member of the Barrie Legion. For many years, he worked as a painter and drywaller on homes. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Charles Foote (Deborah); his sister Mary Foote, niece Maeghan Foote; nephew Braedan Foote; grand-niece Orli Foote; granddaughter Ivy Foote; and his cousins Debbie McElwee (Jim), James Foote (Lauren), Bill Foote (Wen De), May Foote, Jacqueline Hodgson (Scott).

He was predeceased by his sons, Glen Foote and Todd Foote, as well as his parents. 

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
at the Bull & Barrel Pub, 75 Cedar Pointe Road, Barrie, Ontario.
