Johan (John) Willem Loeff

Johan (John) Willem Loeff, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 19, 1943, in Arnhem, The Netherlands, John embraced life's challenges with unwavering determination and a heart full of love.

In 1969, John, along with his wife, made the decision to immigrate to Canada, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future for their family. He devoted his career to Employment Contract Administration at Ontario Hydro, later transitioning into academia as a respected Professor at Baker College in the United States. Through hard work and dedication, he succeeded in establishing a stable home, always prioritizing the well-being of those he cherished.

John earned an Education Doctorate in Psychodynamic Counselling, a testament to his commitment to personal growth and understanding others. His academic pursuits were matched only by his desire to create lasting bonds with his family and friends. John took immense joy in witnessing his grandchildren's successes, particularly their achievements in swimming. Their accomplishments filled him with pride and sparked joy in his heart.

In addition to his professional achievements, John had a passion for life. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, swimming, and nurturing his love for model trains. These hobbies reflected his vibrant spirit and his ability to find happiness in the small moments. His playful nature and zest for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his brother Andre Loeff and his wife Marja; their daughters Brigitte and Kirsten; his brother Gerard Loeff and his wife Irene; their children Petra and nephew Jarno; his former wife, Grace Zwitserlood-Loeff; his son, Glenn Loeff, and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Flaman, along with his cherished grandchildren, Madison Delaney and Matthew Delaney. He is also survived by his daughter, Barbara Loeff, and son-in-law, David Venditti, along with grandson Christian Venditti and granddaughter Dahlia Sabry.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Johan and Aleida Loeff (née Engleberts), and his brother Harry Loeff. Though he has left this world, his legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched.
