Jocelyn “Joe” Gilbert Dallaire

April 17, 1959 — July 20, 2025

Ottawa

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jocelyn Gilbert Dallaire—known to his friends and loved ones simply as Joe—who peacefully left us on July 20, 2025, at the Heart Institute in Ottawa, at the age of 66.

Joe was a man whose life was a rich tapestry woven with passion, kindness, and dedication. More than a brother, uncle, and friend, he was a soul who poured his heart into everything he loved. For over 40 years, Joe was the heart and soul behind the kitchen at Rideau Carleton Raceway, where his exceptional talent as a cook brought comfort, joy, and nourishment to countless people. His meals were more than food—they were expressions of love, crafted with care and shared with warmth. Later, at Edelweiss Golf, Joe’s passion for cooking was matched only by his love for golf. The greens and fairways were his sanctuary, where he found peace, challenge, and camaraderie. His devotion to the game was inspiring, and he cherished every moment spent with friends like Gab, Mike, and Toni—companions who became family.

Born on April 17, 1959, Joe’s life was filled with music and laughter. A devoted fan of The Beatles, their timeless songs reflected the gentleness and depth of his spirit, providing comfort and joy throughout his journey.

Joe is survived by his loving sister Michelle-Estelle (Ray Korac), sister Ellen, (Barry Taylor deceased)), and his cherished nieces and nephews: Nathalie (Stephanie Dallaire), Adam, Keith (Melody Robinson), (Daniel (deceased)), Sophie (Simon Saumure), and Sebastien, his godson. He was also a proud great-uncle to many great-nephews and great-nieces, whose lives he brightened with his love and laughter. The family holds close the memory of Daniel, whose loss is deeply felt alongside Joe’s passing.

A special and heartfelt thank you goes to Joe’s roommates, whose friendship and support brought him comfort and companionship in his later years. Your kindness and care meant the world to him and to his family.

The family also extends deep gratitude to the compassionate staff on the 5th floor at the Heart Institute in Ottawa, whose exceptional care helped make Joe’s final days peaceful and filled with dignity.

Joe’s warmth, his laughter, his love of music, his unforgettable cooking, and his passion for golf will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he has left this world, the love he shared and the memories he created will never fade. He will be missed beyond words and remembered always with love.
