Joan Elspeth Leckie

December 9, 1933 – September 2, 2026

Joan has been reunited with her “Big Boy” husband Ron. She was predeceased by her parents “JJ” and Bessie Taylor, sisters Beryl, Winnifred and Wilma. Joan was the loving wife of Ron for 57 wonderful years. She is survived by her daughter Michele Wright (Lloyd) and her son Tom Leckie (Robin) as well as her sister-in-law Grace McEwen (Freeman) and sisters-in-love Pat Berlin (Bill) and Janet Dengler (Darrell). Nana adored her grandchildren Eric (Celyren), Mackenzie (Brittany), Jack (Ashley), Matthew (Madison) and Miranda (Sean) and bonus granddaughter, Lea.

Joan was an amazing wife, mom, Nana, friend. She forever lived a life of faith and service to her church. She was an active member of St. Aidan’s Windsor, where she built a lifetime of friendships through fellowship and laughter… Her Home Economics degree from The University of Guelph, or as she called it, “the diamond ring course”, came in handy when she spent year after year making limitless turkey pies and pastries for her church and reaching out with casserole ministries. Her wedding cake decorating was extraordinary, and she blessed many marriages with towering floral masterpieces! She spent many hours volunteering for The Hospice of Windsor and she and Ron received special honours for 25 years of service.

Joan and Ron had a cottage in Bright’s Grove, Ontario on Lake Huron. Their grandchildren were excited to spend weekends and weeks over many summers, building special memories and enjoying Nana’s great food! She and Ron were fortunate to travel extensively throughout their marriage, often choosing to cruise through life together…

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Oak Park Terrace Retirement Home and The Leamington Mennonite Home for their caring and compassion during Joan’s placements over the past few years.

Cremation has taken place.

Joan’s Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 11 at 12 pm at Signature Tributes Event Centre 3310 Dougall Avenue, Windsor, Ontario. Fellowship afterwards. Internment, for the immediate family, will take place at the family plot at Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joan's memory to be made to the Home for Generations building campaign at St Aidan's Windsor.
