Jim (James) Hart Over

We are sad to announce the passing of Jim (James) Hart Over at the age of 86 on August 3, 2025. Jim was born February 8, 1939, in Clydebank, Scotland to James and Jeannie (Marshall Hart). He married his first sweetheart and love, Irene Kirk, on August 26, 1960. He moved his family from Scotland to South Africa and then eventually to Canada, creating great friendships throughout the world. He was enthusiastic about his Scottish heritage, playing the bagpipes, sharing Scottish history and building his family tree. He loved golf, having a wee Scotch, was thoroughly involved with Ringette, and the many dogs (and 2 cats) that he and Irene had over the years. Jim is survived by his wife Irene, son Jim (Edith, nee. Wadden) and daughter Catherine (Anne Gillespie). Proud grandpa to Robert, Cameron, Kaitlyn and Lauren and beloved great-grandpa to Charlotte. All of these he loved and touched deeply.

Please join us to celebrate Jim’s life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Andrews United Church, 2557 Old Montreal Road, Cumberland, Ontario. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his caring church where he loved singing in the choir –St. Andrews United Church.

The family extends special appreciation to the kind and dedicated staff at Willowbend Residence and at Beacon Heights Residence, especially those on the 3rd floor staff for their compassionate care.
