It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean-Pierre Rene Beauregard, who left us in his sleep at his home in Ottawa on March 6, 2026, at the age of 65, following a lengthy and courageous struggle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Jean-Pierre—known affectionately by many of his friends as JP, and by his family as Pete or Peter—was a remarkably kind soul. He lived his life with a quiet dedication to helping others, a trait that defined both his professional career and his personal life.
Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Jean-Pierre completed his secondary education there before moving to Ottawa to pursue his passion for helping others. He graduated in 1982 from Algonquin College as part of the historic, first-ever bilingual Social Service Work program. This launched a successful and fulfilling career in the social services field, where his ability to connect with and support people in both official languages allowed him to truly excel.
JP began his career with the City of Ottawa as a Youth Outreach worker. By the late 1980s, he transitioned to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor. Over the years, he lent his expertise to various private companies before ultimately accepting a position with the Federal Government of Canada at Global Affairs, where he proudly served as a Vocational Counsellor until his passing.
Outside of work, Jean-Pierre was a man of diverse interests. spent many summers with his brothers on their “brothers weekend”. He enjoyed solitary pursuits like photography and gaming, as well as group activities like fishing and golfing, which he frequently shared with his co-workers and close friends, including Richard and Anne Bisson, and Patrick Poitras. JP was also renowned for his exceptional culinary skills, his quick wit, and a famously dry sense of humor that could instantly light up a room. For over 20 years, he shared a deep bond with his constant feline companion, Simba, and he always welcomed the opportunity to care for his friends' animals over the years.
Above all, Jean-Pierre was a devoted family man. As the youngest child of a family of ten, he was fiercely loved. He was a deeply supportive father and grandfather, and his legacy of kindness will live on through his children and grandchild.
