At dawn on July 7th, Janice Bynoth-Blewitt, mother of Justin Blewitt (daughter-in-law Karina), Kara Little (son-in-law Sam), and Wesley Blewitt, lost her brief yet fierce fight with cancer, the bravest and strongest woman I have known.
Grandmother (Nan) of Kayla Little (Ethan), Morgan Little, Bethany Little (Travis), Jillian Little (Dylan), Maximus Blewitt, and Amanda Little.
Great-Grandmother (GG) of Everleigh, Adam, Lillian, Landin, Lacey, Paisley, and Ivey. Honorary GG of Mazey.
Janice emigrated from England to Canada and settled in Orillia during the foundry era of the 1950s and 1960s, where her dad's skills were in demand. She attended ODCVI and made sure she got a brick when they tore it down.
As a young woman, Jan had many diverse interests. She was a successful stock car driver at the old Pinecrest Speedway and competed against many of the top-ranked drivers of the day. She majored in English and was an accomplished folk artist, crafter, seamstress, knitter, and crocheter. She loved music, reading, and a good movie.
Jan was also an accomplished horsewoman, the love of which she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and now a great-grandchild. She was a single mom during difficult times. Her greatest love was her family. She lived for her children and grandchildren, supporting them and showing up in every way possible. She loved her diverse friend groups and spending time with everyone.
Janice will be remembered fondly, and her love will live on in all of us.
Until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Mariposa Hospice House, where they made Janice Bynoth-Blewitt's final days incredibly peaceful.
