Jane Agius

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jane Agius, who left us peacefully on Thursday, November 20 at the age of 88. Jane was a beloved resident of Whispering Pines in Barrie and passed away at Royal Victoria Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Born August 16, 1937, in Hamrun, Malta, Jane was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald and Elvira Sammut.

Jane lived a life full of warmth, generosity and an unmistakable zest for life. She loved helping others and found joy in the simple meaningful moments – whether she was reading a favourite book, knitting something special for a loved one, baking treats to share, or spending cherished time with her children and grandchildren. She also had a deep love for the ocean, and nothing brought her more peace than being near the water or going for a swim.

Beloved mother of Josephine (Robert), Raymond, David (Julie), Catherine (Salauddin), Mary Anne (Dan), and Mary Grace. Beloved Nana of Misty, Jory, Leah, Brandon, Jordan, Mark, Corbin, Orlando and Domenica. Beloved great-grandmother of David.

She will also be lovingly remembered by all who called her “Nana” and were fortunate enough to know her kindness, humour, and feisty spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 23rd at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Jennett Memorial Centre, located on 152 Bradford Street, Barrie, Ontario. All who knew Jane are welcome to attend and honour her memory.
