It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Stewart Peat, age 75, of Toronto, on June 21, 2026. James passed away peacefully at Toronto General Hospital's Peter Munk Cardiology Centre, surrounded by the love of his two sons.

James's life was nothing short of remarkable. Born with a congenital septal defect, he defied all medical expectation, living to become the oldest known person with this condition, a testament to his resilience and the sheer force of his spirit. He met every challenge with quiet determination.

James will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his sons, John Peat and Jimmy Peat, who were by his side as he passed.

A life so long and so well-lived deserves to be celebrated. Details regarding a memorial service will follow.
