James Turnbull, "Jamie," passed away on October 16, 2026, at the age of 79.
He is lovingly remembered by Linda, his devoted wife of 45 years; their children Christopher (Cathy), Theresa (Vince), and Jahleen (Paul); grandchildren Laila, Andrew, Zachary, Mallory, and Nadene; and great-grandchildren Anaya, Kylie, Ember, and Lyle. He is also survived by his sister Laurel (Ted), niece Robyn, and nephew Ian.
Jamie spent most of his life in Combermere, in the Madawaska Valley, before he and Linda moved to Toronto to be closer to family in 2026. Jamie was a talented potter, craftsman, and sign maker. He and Linda operated Whiteduck Pottery & Crafts, their family pottery studio and showroom, for 44 years. He loved to putter around the house and workshop and enjoyed vegetable gardening, woodturning, and painting in his later years.
Jamie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 30, 1980, and lovingly served as a congregation elder for decades. He was a kind, humble, affectionate man, who loved people as well as the earth and the One who created it. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 343 Keele Street, Toronto, ON M6P 2K7.
