Jacqueline Mary Finch (Jacky) passed away peacefully after a short illness on the 13th November 2025, a little over one month short of her 79th birthday.
Jacky, affectionately known as ‘Grocky’ to her close family, was the first born of Robert (Bob) and Beryl Finch. She later became a big sister to Gillian, Rosemary and John.
The family moved from Croydon to Catford in the early 50s where Jacky attended Hamilton House school before moving on to Mary Datchelor girls school where she developed her love for music and the arts.
After leaving school Jacky worked as a secretary in the head office of British Petroleum (BP) in London. When she was in her early twenties Jacky made the brave decision to leave her family and friends and emigrate to Canada. She initially lived in Calgary where she worked for Massey Ferguson before finally settling in Toronto and becoming a legal secretary in Torys LLP where she remained until she retired.
Toronto became the perfect base for Jacky to develop and enrich her love of classical music, ballet, opera and the theatre, a passion, which along with her ability to chat with anyone and everyone, helped her form many long and lasting friendships with like-minded people.
Jacky ‘Grocky’ will be greatly missed by her family and all the friends that she made over the years that she lived in Toronto.
