Jack Jerom Ellis, born August 15, 1942 in Belle River, Ontario, and passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024 with his beloved children by his side.
Jack was a man full of life and laughter who loved his family dearly. He was a wonderfully loving and devoted father to his three children with the late Sandra Sue-Lynn Ellis, Jeffrey (Maryanne); David and Jodi (Tony).
For the last 40 years of his life, Jack shared his life with the recently predeceased Anne Channon, his beloved life partner. Together, they had a blended family and Jack was stepfather to her sons, Kenneth (deceased); Karl (Sherilyn) and Christopher (deceased).
Our hearts are broken but we find comfort knowing that Grammy and Poppy are together, once again.
In addition to being a wonderful father and father-in-law, Jack was an uncle who cared deeply for all his nieces and nephews. He was a fantastic Poppy to his and Anne’s grandchildren: Vincent Channon, Matthew Channon (Alexandra), Symantha Channon (Scott), Christopher Pierro, Corinne Channon, Brianna Channon and Natalie Ellis.
Jack loved his family, friends and he loved adventure! He rode bicycles, motorcycles, skied, kayaked and travelled. With Anne, he travelled the world and for many years they wintered in Florida as snow birds. With his son-in-law Tony, he rode a bicycle throughout China and India; with Maryanne, his daughter-in-law and her dogs, he drove from Chicago to Calgary; with his son, Jeff, he rode a motorcycle through Spain, France and Italy; with David, he explored British Columbia while his younger son lived there; and with his daughter Jodi, he kayaked the lakes of Ontario. In 2003, Grammy and Poppy took the family, children, grandchildren and cousins on a cruise through the Caribbean. Amazing memories were made and those stories are still shared today. Jack was up for any adventure, especially with his family! His love, support and devotion will be sorely missed.
Since 2021, Jack and Anne have lived at the Shores of Port Credit where they made friends with their neighbours and the staff who took incredible care of them. A sincere thank you to their community there and to their caregiver Lilia who made their last months more comfortable.
As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no funeral services following his cremation. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the United Way would be appreciated.
